A wide ranging overview of what light is, how to make it and how to make it sit up and beg. Introduce your students to the strangest form of energy and the universe's ultimate speed limit. Beautiful and bizarre, explore the two R's (reflection and refraction - also known as the two B's, bouncing and bending), and diffraction gratings. Find out how colours are made by emmission and absorption, what Newton got wrong (and right) and how fluorescence and phosphorence work.

This interactive show was built to accommodate a wide age range - it was originally made for the International Year of Light, but we think it's a keeper.

Curriculum Links

Potential curriculum links for this show are enormous but mostly in the physical sciences, but that is not what this program is for; this is not a curriculum-specific show but a general science engagement program, suitable for a large general audience such as a school assembly, public open day, special event to open or close National Week, etc, etc. Just let us know what you are looking for.
